Everything you need to know about yourself is through hard work
My whole life I have been an active person using my body any way I could to burn off energy. I grew up watching all the martial arts movies and aspired to become one myself. In addition to martial arts I began to realize how much conditioning was involved and I started to learn all I could about it. Now I am a strength and conditioning coach and I feel there is no better athlete than a boxer or a MMA fighter. The demands of a fighter have some of the greatest challenges compared to the demands of any other sport. When you look at what they go through they need strength, conditioning, high aerobic capacity, flexibility, kinesthetic awareness and explosiveness. Luckily the trainers, Ahmed and Amy, provide you all of that in a fun loving environment. They give you a challenging workout every time yet they never push you to do more than you’re capable of doing. Meanwhile, each individual in the gym is willing to work with you and make you better and better. Bottom line Shraim’s academy has high-spirited coaches, tough workouts and people just like you learning to better themselves. I highly recommend it as a great workout and learning environment! |

Strength Through Boxing
Shraim's Boxing and MMA Academy must be one of the best gyms in the State of New Jersey. I joined Shraim's Academy in early 2011, looking for a new workout regimen after a near-lifetime of swimming competitively. Almost instantly, I was hooked. Not only is boxing an invigorating and challenging workout, but coaches Ahmed Shraim and Amy Furnald are two of the best trainers I've ever had. They provide individual attention for every fighter and push each person to the max. Through boxing at Shraim's Academy, I gained new knowledge about myself and my limits, and at the end of every training session, I felt a sense of accomplishment that left me eager to return the next day. What's more, Ahmed and Amy have built an incredible community at Shraim's – everyone is supportive of one another, and, everyday, I looked forward to seeing the other fighters at the gym. If you're looking to be whipped into the best shape of your life, build self-confidence, and make new friends, look no further than Shraim's Acaedemy. |

Reach down, dig deep, break ground
I joined Shraim’s Academy in January 2011. I had graduated from college a year and a half prior, and during that time period did not maintain a steady workout/eating regimen. Having reached a plateau of complacency, I decided that a major change needed to happen. At that point, learning to box came to mind. Therefore, I Google’d “08807 Boxing”. There were several local gyms, but Shraim’s Academy caught my eye. I looked through the website, and read practically every testimonial. So many positive comments, ranging from “best workout ever” to “just learn something new” (both of which I was looking to get out of the gym, and turned out to be true) were ultimately what drew me to Shraim’s Academy. I started in the Adult Boxing class since I needed to get in shape before anything else. Let me tell you, that was a great decision. The first part of every boxing class starts with extreme conditioning, aka “gleeful torture”. I say this because the workouts have the intensity of what I imagine torture would be, but they are so much fun you get over the painful part. Coaches Ahmed and Amy push you, but they are cognizant that everyone is at a different level of fitness. Ahmed and Amy make safety the top priority, and they ensure proper and effective techniques are employed by all fighters. Personally, this was a critical factor as far as gym quality. The coaches genuinely care for every person who steps foot in the gym, and are passionate about fitness and learning. I’m in the best shape of my life, and completing the Tough Mudder (also a bonding experience for Shraim’s Fighters) is a testament to how great Ahmed and Amy’s “gleeful torture” is. Of course, becoming skilled at fighting is the other important aspect of the gym. I had no prior boxing/fighting experience, excluding when I was 5 years old and my dad had me box my twin brother, resulting in a nose bleed (me) three seconds into the first round. By my second month, I noticed my skills had significantly improved. From that point, I was ‘hooked’ (har har). You will gain speed and agility, and learn how to throw effective punches. Additionally, you will learn at your own pace, and every veteran of the gym is more than happy to give advice and practice with boxers of any level. I also began watching boxing matches on TV religiously, and am now obsessed with the sport. Eight months later I began training in Muay Thai (ridiculously cool sport), and have since also started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (also beyond awesome). Ultimately, Shraim’s Academy has helped me grow as a person. I have met so many interesting and fun people, and enjoy every class I attend. If you’re looking for the “best workout ever” or “just learn something new”, this is the gym for you. |

Boxing/Muay Thai
I began training in Boxing and Muay Thai at Shraim’s Academy about 6 months ago. I was looking to intensify my workout routine, and I definitely got what I wanted! The workouts are exhausting, but they are incredibly rewarding. The coaches have so much energy and enthusiasm, and they push you to achieve your potential. What truly makes the workouts even more enjoyable are all of the awesome fighters that are training there with you. Everyone is so friendly and supportive. The other fighters are just as willing to help as the trainers. Despite the difficult workouts, everyone is constantly smiling and laughing. Overall, I still look forward to training just as much as I did on the first day. I’ve uncovered a much tougher, stronger side of myself. I couldn’t thank Ahmed and Amy enough for all that they’ve taught me! |

Best workout decision ever!
I had heard that boxing is a great way to get in shape but it took me about a year to get the nerve to try it. I have participated in triathlons but no training has been as much fun or as good of a workout as boxing classes at Shraims. Ahmed and Amy have an infinite amount of humor and patience while constantly pushing everyone to achieve their best. Sparring can be intimidating but everyone at the gym is great and encouraging. The workouts are always different, keeping every class new. After six months I still consider this to be my best exercise decision ever! |
